This is part of a sponsored campaign with Dime Media and Coca-Cola, however, all opinions are my own.
Education is the core of Latino families, and through the Hispanic Scholarship Fund, families can plan for the next step in their child’s future. Coca Cola has teamed up with the Hispanic Scholarship Fund to help families financially afford college. Coca Cola is a loved company for many Latinos, also being a favorite amongst Mexican families in Mexico and other South American countries. Coca Cola is showing its appreciation of Latino culture, and its strong connection to educational goals through supporting the Hispanic Scholarship Fund.
The #ForTheDream Hispanic Education Program’s goal is to inspire consumers to engage and participate in the #ForTheDream movement, and #ForTheDreamSweep Sweepstakes. The For the Dream Coke Sweepstakes runs through August 31st.
Mine and my daughter’s personal experience with college
Several years ago I decided I wanted to go to college to get a better job. I also wanted to inspire my kids to want to go to college to. My journey started in a Horticulture program, but quickly changed to psychology in hopes to one day become a counselor. In 2010 I graduated from Washington State University with a bachelors degree in psychology. I began working in mental health shortly after as a qualified mental health associate in Washington. Last year I began my journey to pursue a masters degree is clinical social work, and by the end of next year I should walk away as a social worker. I am excited to use my social work degree to help others. Throughout my education it was a struggle to afford school. Like many students, I had to take out student loans. Scholarships pay tuition whenever possible. I applied for any I qualified for.
Coca-Cola’s #ForTheDream program inspires and empowers Hispanic teens, and their families to prepare, plan, and pay for their college education. This summer Coca Cola is donating $100,000 to the Hispanic College Fund. This is a sweet deal, but that’s not all they are doing. Coca Cola wanted to do more, so they are also donating $1 for every social media post with the hashtag #ForTheDream. They are capping this to $10,000.
Financial instability is the #1 reason Hispanic youth do not attend college. In fact, it is one of my own concerns now that my daughter will be attending college here soon. She actually starts running start in September. Coca Cola is a community supporter and partner of Hispanic Scholarship Fund, and wants to help college kids through the #ForTheDream program. They understand the importance Hispanic families place on education.
For the Dream program sponsored by Coca Cola and Hispanic Scholarship Fund. They are giving away one college tour experience, and 34-$500 grants to cover education expenses.

Pampers #BetterforBaby makes way for mothers to add a little self care in their lives
When my kids were little Pampers was one of the 3 brands I would purchase. I would rotate through the 3 brands according to sales, and cost because I was a single mom and did not have much money. Pampers was my preferred brand, and I would get them whenever possible. Fast forward today, and many of my friends have newborns in diapers who claim this brand is their favorite.
Watch the Pampers Better for Baby Youtube video below. This video ends with a pledge “together we can make life better for baby. Pampers hopes the message inspires you to better for the world, and to share what you already do to make your life happier. Each pledge is an individual promise of how can make a little difference in someones life. You can something as simple as reading a story to your baby, or singing him or her a lullaby, to larger things like donating to charity.
As a brand that has been diapering babies for more then 50 years, Pampers would like to stay committed to helping babies have a better life. As an example of Pampers work they have donated millions to charities in the form of diapers through Feeding America, which partners with UNICEF. With the introduction of this fil, Pampers has made additional contributions to each of these organizations. For more information visit Pampers Facebook Page and watch the below Youtube video.
Since my best friend has had her baby she has gotten out more. I hear about her taking her little ones for a walk several times a week. As a from of self care, exercise reduces stress, and helps new mothers cope with the changes in their life when a new baby enters it.
Pampers believes that even though babies are small, they are powerful agents of change, because babies have a profound impact our lives and the world. I would have to agree with this message because as a young mother 16 years ago, a lot of that experience shaped who I am today. My daughter helped me discover myself, and what I saw in the world. Babies make you want to be a better person. When a baby comes into your life you’re whole way of thinking starts to shift. You want to be a better person for that baby. That’s why there is nothing a mother wouldn’t do for her new baby. Getting healthier by eating better, and getting in some self care ensures mother is ready for her new baby each day.
One lucky winner will walk away with the following prize pack.
Pampers wipes and Pampers Swaddlers
Grace & Lace Spring Floral Scarf ( A portion of all sales goes towards building orphanages in India) Valued $20
Magic Bullet Baby Care System Value $60
Thinkable Thinkster Straw Bottle Value $10
Disclosure: This is a sponsored post sponsored by Allstate about teen driving. All opinions are my own.
In May my 16 year old daughter started driving school. It is a requirement of Washington state that all teenagers attend driving school before they can get their drivers license. As you can imagine she was excited. In fact she has been talking about this day since she was 12 years old. She and her friends would sit in the back of my car and chat about what kind of car they would get when they were older. As she got older she started reminding me
“mom only 2 more years”
“mom I just turned 14, next year I will be driving!”
And on her 15th birthday she could hardly contain herself she was SO EXCITED, but I did not feel she was ready just yet. She still had some maturing to do. She was barely able to reach the kitchen counters let alone see above a steering wheel, and frankly she had a rough year as far as her attitude was concerned. So we waited. She was not happy about that, and she let us know it. The thing is, parents are the number one influence on teens regarding their driving skills. I needed her to trust that I knew what I was doing. That I was not withholding her driving privileges out of punishment, but rather waiting just a little bit longer until I felt comfortable with her behind the wheel.
Making the hard decision to make her wait was probably the hardest decision I have had to make so far. Seeing the disappointment in her eyes was difficult to swallow, but it is a parents responsibility to ensure their kid drives safely. The day we signed her up for drivers ed she was ready and we felt comfortable in our decision to let her go.
She passed her driving test with a 96%, and we were all so happy about that, but more assurance is needed when it comes to teen drivers. We had her sign an agreement like Allstate’s Parent/teen driving agreement, and had her read the driving coaching guide found here from Allstate
Car crashes are the #1 killer of American teens, and that is why I was so reluctant to let her drive. It is scary letting go, but with proper supervision, and a good relationship with your teen you can help prevent car crashes by teens.
The astonishing things is more parents then teens use their cell phones while driving, but teens are more likely to eat or do their makeup while behind the wheel, both of which are causes of crashes and fatalities.
The foundation is running a sweepstakes through July 3rd, 2015 worth $1000. To enter just tag your teen or other influential person on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram using the hashtag #GetThereSafe. Be sure to also use @Allstate when doing this.
