Today’s Holiday Gift Guide – children’s category is a book called My Twins First Christmas by Jackie Singer and Paris Morris. Morris is a popular Teen author who has created an entire series of children’s books. some of the books written include topics such as family vacations, and her younger siblings. I must say that as a mother of a teen I love the idea of this young writer doing her thing! Books are a great gift for children because they love to read. I know my 5th grader has been an avid reader since first grade and a lot of his friends enjoy reading entire collections. Singer’s book is about…

If you are like most Americans you probably reach for the salt a little too often. I know in my family we were raised on home cooked meals with a lot of salt. I  grew up eating soup with salted pork that my mom would pour sea salt into. I just remember not liking the salt and mom would have to make a little dish separate for me or I simply wouldn’t eat. I just never liked salt much;  I do use some specialty salts in my food such as Himalayan salt or black salt but still not much of it.  My husband on the other hand is is from  a big Mexican family and they use a lot…

Look what I ran into! Holy molly that is one HUGE orange gob of pumpkiness!  Do you see what I see, yes  this is pumpkin on steroids. So the question is would you buy a pumpkin like this; that is  so clearly deformed or do you prefer the more perfectly symmetrical ones? What about the flaws in the flesh, is that a no go for you or does it add to the spookiness once the face is carved in?  Personally speaking I think this one would make a great centerpiece for apple bobbing.

My kids are growing up so fast and I thought this year we would not be heading to the pumpkin patch  but then my son decided at the last second [[when it’s pouring a river outside]] that store bought pumpkins are not the same as farm grade ones you get at a patch [[ FYI  they actually are the same pumpkins and are cheaper to boot]]. So we waited for a break in the weather, I forced the teenager into the car and we all 3 headed to the patch [[ my husband was the lucky one because he was at work]]. We get to the pumpkin patch and it starts pouring a river…

FRANKENWEENIE opened in theaters October 5th. Did you get a chance to see it?  I had the chance as part of a blogger program and it was so good!  I hope you get a chance to see the movie to. How cute are these adorable pumpkin carving cutouts. Just look at them and you will fall in love. I am excited to use them in this years pumpkin designs.  My husband likes to go all out with his designs but I think I will let the kids get a couple extra pumpkins to carve themselves this year just so they can use these cutouts.                    …
