Microblading for Perfect Eyebrows

Have You Heard of Microblading?

A blogger that I know recently had a procedure done to her eyebrows called Microblading. I had never heard of it before but I always thought her eyebrow makeup looked fantastic before she had this done, so when she mentioned she was having Microblading done I knew I had to see what she was talking about.

Microblading is when they use a sharp blade and make tiny hair like incisions into the eyebrow and use pigment to create a semi-permanent tattoo. The result looks very natural, and you can not even tell that its not real hair. They numb you during the procedure, so you do not feel much pain if any.

Bre from The Small Things, posted about her experience on her blog. The results are amazing, and I liked it so much that I decided to get it done to! Also, if you have never gone to her blog I encourage you to take a peek. She does a lot of makeup reviews, and she goes to a lot of the Disney events.

I go in this Sunday for my initial procedure. I am so excited but also very nervous because I think it’s going to hurt, and I am still a tiny bit fearful of sharp objects.

The below collage is of Bre’s results through week 2!

The cost for this procedure varies but usually its around $350-$500 in Washington State. You all know I am frugal so of course I am not paying for this. I really wanted it done so I searched for a deal and luckily I found a teacher who needed models and she hooked me up for FREE.

I am really excited that I won’t need brow pencils or brow mascaras anymore! I am horrible at matching brow pencil, and I no longer have a steady hand. I swear to you sometimes I really do think that when I fill them in they turn out unsymmetrical. That’s never a good thing. Who wants lop sided brows?

How Long Does it Take?

The procedure is supposed to take 2 hours. Bre explained that they take 1 hour to draw the brows in and another hour to perform the cutting. She also said it isn’t super painful because they numb you. Well, thank you for that!

Is is Permanent?

It is semi-permanent and is supposed to last for at least 2 years. Every body is different though, and can last longer if you are taking the right precautions. You have to go in for touch ups once a year. I am not sure if you have to complete the entire process again in year 2 or what. I guess I need to research it more to find that part out.

Overcoming Fears

I’m going to let you in on a secret only my family and close friends know. I used to be very afraid of needles and sharp objects. My fear took me years to overcome, and I still have some issues when I go to the dentist. Overcoming the fear took a long time but now I can go in for procedures like Microblading and sit through it. Although I didn’t realize at first that Microblading is done with a blade, not a needle.

I started to settle down about the needles several years ago when I went with mom to get cosmetic tattooed eyeliner done. I was scared to DEATH. I think I might have even held my moms hand lol. The lady who did it was really patient with me, and helped me overcome a big fer. The sad part is the lady did the liner so thin you couldn’t even see it. All that pain for nothing.

If you are interested in learning more you can visit Bre’s post to learn about her experience. She lives in a different state than me, but the procedure is the same. I will be getting the Microblading done on Sunday, and will be updating with a new post on Monday to tell you about my experience.
