Kobo Aura HD eReader Review
I’m not much of a book reader but when I do get in the mood for a good book I typically lock myself in my bedroom for the weekend with an entire series. I remember when the Twilight series came out I had to fight my daughter for them because I was reading the books faster than she was. Waiting for that third book was no fun at all. However, if there’s not a good series out then I don’t read physical books much. I believe my lack of interest in reading is derived from my old college day when I was studying psychology. I had to read so many medical books and theories that reading just got old, real quick.
When I do read I like to do it at night time. I also like to read late at night when I can’t sleep or I am stressed about something. Unfortunately for my husband this isn’t a good thing for him since I require the light on to read.
We received a Kobo Aura HD eReader for review a couple months ago and it came extremely fast. I was pleasantly surprised with how light weight it felt when I picked it up. I also quickly noticed that there is a curve to the back of the eReader that resembles a real book.
Kobo Aura HD is the newest eReader from Kobo and is the only enhanced eReader on the market that closely resembles a real book with a unique ink like effect when you read on it. There’s also a book light built in and tablet like features including a search engine and internet browser. I am not much into specs nor do I really understand their importance so I’ll just list them for you below.

So you can see the Kobo Aura HD has some impressive features and functions. The sculpted back is one of my favorite feature because it helps the reader to naturally sit in the palm of my hand and it’s not uncomfortable or heavy like other readers I have tried.
A down side to the Kobo is that it’s books are more expensive then places like Amazon or Nook. You can find free apps that you download to your computer that will convert the book file from an Amazon one to the Kobo and that helps you get a wider selection for less money.
Kobo also offers over 1,000 free eBooks in their store. I will say I struggled a lot with finding free books through the reader. I had to go through the site on my computer and then transfer them to the reader.
The Kobo Aura HD is available for $169.99 and comes in black or brown. you can also find lots of accessories on their website here
