American Apparel New Summer Arrivals – High Waist Swim Suit, High Waisted Easy Jean and Tennis Shoe Review

According to my daughter, high waist is in right now. So it’s only fitting the Americas hottest American made clothing company would come out with new patterns in the high waist style just in time for summer. I must say the items are HOT. I can’t wait to be able to wear American Apparel Skinny jeans and the new high waisted swim suits once I accomplish my weight loss goals. For now, the teen in our home gets the luxury of trying all the hottest new trends.

My daughter had the opportunity to try American Apparel’s summer line. We picked out a few items that I thought appropriately represented her style and AP’s design methods. The high waisted bikini, high waisted easy jean and a white sneaker were just the things that she was looking for.

The jeans and canvas tennis shoes work well together. We did not choose a coordinating top because she already has many AP tops to choose from in her closet but American Apparel has such an awesome selection of tank tops and t-shirts on clearance right now for as low as $2!

*I was shocked at how tiny the jeans are. I ordered a size small thinking since she  wears a size 1 or 2 that we would be safe.  The jeans are very stretchy so even though they are very small looking they did stretch out once on but were still a bit tight around the middle. That said, if you have any large curvy areas you may want to order a size up or check the measurements. She’s wearing the size small in the picture above and she’s 14 years old, 4’11 and 94 pounds…

I hadn’t seen a high waisted swim suit like these before and truth be told I wasn’t a fan until the swim suit arrived to our door step. I am in LOVE with this swim suit. So in love that I want to order one for myself . You know as a mom, we often have trouble zones and the high waisted bottom really hides that area and makes you look WAY thinner. I am telling you these are the go to suits if you have any trouble in the tummy area or if you are packing a little extra backside 🙂 Plus they are mega stylish!

We both felt that this swim suit was one of the most modest ones they sell. The set does have an option to get a bikini top instead of the Bandeau for the $29 instead of $28. There are other patterns if you aren’t into lace or black/peach combo.

I would say this suit runs true to size. If you normally wear a large then you’d order a large in this as well. The great thing about buying individual pieces is you can order a smaller or larger top or bottom.
