Nutrisystem Week 3 – Progress and Before Photo
I have been in denial for a long time about being obese. I avoid taken photos, going to parties that require me to dress up where I might feel my weight issue would be exposed or do anything that would otherwise require me to bare my trouble spots. Let’s be honest here, when you are as overweight as I am you have a lot of trouble spots, so swim suits were ruled out, short sleeves have been a rarity and I don’t really own many shorts or skirts because I don’t like the way my legs look in them. So when my Nutrisystem rep asked me for a before photo I kind of freaked out a lot. I don’t photograph well. I didn’t photograph well before I gained weight either but now that I am overweight it’s much worse.
Tonight I needed to take some photos for a sports bra company I am reviewing and while taken shots I was sad. How did I get to this point where I am so overweight? Why haven’t I done something about it? The truth is, it’s not an easy task. Weight loss is so hard and it requires you to change yourself and the way you view the world. It requires you to take care of YOU and I haven’t done that in, well, I don’t actually remember the last time I thought about my own needs. My family comes first, work comes second and me comes last. Mostly I have just let myself go.
It hasn’t always been this way, there was a period of time, actually a large junk of years that I was very active. I took dance lessons, I went to the gym, and I actually paid attention to my weight and how clothes fit my body. At some point, some how I just let all of that go and slowly over time I began to care less about taking care of Emily and more about meeting the needs of everyone around me.
So now the time has come. I have been on Nutrisystem for almost 1 month now and I have learned a few things a long the way. One of the most important things I have learned is that even if you do mess up you just get back on track, not the next day or the week after but the instant you realize you just went off plan you get back on plan immediately.
I will have a final weight loss tally on my official 1 month anniversary which is coming up in just a few days plus my monthly progress update.
Oh and here is my before picture:(

I know exactly what you mean about posting the photos and how you feel. I could have written the exact same post. I admire your strength for taking this plunge. You are beautiful so do not feel shy about your before photo. Congratulations on becoming a new you! You are an inspiration to many. Keep up the good word. You will get there!

Photos are the worst, but the important part is you have started towards a healthy life!

Can’t wait to see your journey

Keeping taking photos! As someone who has lost 180 lbs (no typos in that number, fyi), having the before pictures — taken every 10 lbs — means SO much when looking back and checking out your accomplishments.
Good luck! I’ve heard nothing but good things about NutriSystem. 🙂
