We did not let the rest of our warm weather go to waste while we went on vacation

One stop was at the Safari in Winston, Oregon. There was tons to do, and I really enjoyed feeding the bears fresh apple chunks during our bear encounter! We got up close and personal with some young male brown bears that were seriously cute. Don’t let there cuteness fool you though. They weigh a lot, their claws seriously long, and they have enough muscle to kill you in a split second! A bear is the last animal I would want to encounter while it is hungry.

Our experience at the Wildlife Safari in Winston Oregon was a great one

The animals are well taken care of. They are not hungry so they won’t want to eat you when you drive through their 400-acre property, equipped with over 200 animals that mostly run free 😉 and this Wildlife Safari – Winston, Oregon is one of the best places to visit during your stay in Oregon because of the amount of animals they have.

If you go during off season there will be less people there, and you will still get all the benefits your tickets give you.

The first is that the village area (with over 200 animals) is absolutely free all year long.You can walk through it rain or shine, through snow, ice or hot cement!

As you can see from the above photos, we had a great time capturing the safari’s animals on camera. My daughter used a Canon EOS Rebel T2i DSLR Camera (Body Only) with a Canon EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 III USM Telephoto Zoom Lens for Canon SLR Cameras, which is ideal for shooting wildlife for the budget conscious photographer. In a few of these shots she also used a Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II Camera Lens that I primarily use for food shots on my blog.

We had a lot of fun taking shots of the wildlife. We also had a lot of fun driving through the 400- acre property, and seeing all the wonderful wild life.  We had a chance to view the animals extremely close. A Giraffe practically crawled into our car as he crossed the road, an elk was looking mighty tasty as he grazed on the vegetative surroundings he was standing on. We got to see all different kinds of interesting birds. Turkeys were gorgeous! I do not think I have ever seen a prettier turkey in my life.  We also got some amazing shots of the turkeys as we drove around.

This Thanksgiving when you are dining on turkey remember where that turkey came from, and buy organic ethically raised turkey that you can feel proud to eat! It is conservation efforts like what the Wildlife Safari in Winston Oregon is doing that allows us to have food on our tables and still be able to have beautiful wildlife to look at. Without conservation efforts we would be left with a world with hardly any animals left.
