Soda Stream Review

The Soda Stream review is finally here. I’m sure you’ve been stalking my Faceboook page just waiting for this baby to hit. I know if I were on your end that’s what I would be doing. Well, to be honest, there isn’t much to say about the Soda Stream. Simply put, it’s FANTASTIC.

I received the Genesis model start kit with bonus bottle and 12 pack of samples. Soda Stream also sent me additional full sized flavors to try (cola, fountain mist, black currant & pear, ginger ale, cola, orange, root beer, diet pink grape fruit, diet lemon lime, diet root beer and cola free). I also received a 3-pack of water engancers.

Many of my fans know that I try to live a Clean Eating lifestyle. CE eating means 5 ingredients or less and fresh foods are always preferred. Soda is frowned upon because it has a lot of chemicals in it. But it’s probably the one thing I cheat with the most. I just love me a cold cola or orange soda. My soda fetish doesn’t exactly fit into my clean eating lifestyle, so I cheat so…often. Having the Soda Stream affords me the opportunity to not cheat because it’s a clean treat. Well, it’s as close to clean as you’re going to get with a soda but I’m okay with that.

The first thing I noticed with Soda Stream is how awesome their customer service is. I ordered my soda machine on a weekend and it was delivered within 4 days. I was shocked by how fast they shipped and the product was packed well.

I was surprised at how light weight the product is. It’s also easy to put together. The only negative thing I found was that the directions were pretty slim and extremely small font. I have good eyesight but if someone wears glasses I could see the manual being a problem for them. All of the components appear to be of high quality plastic.

It literally takes seconds to make the soda and a kid can do it easily. In fact, my 10 year old has taken over our Soda Stream completely. He’s creating his own flavors by mixing from the samples we received and coming up with some awesome new concoctions. I love that they have so many flavors to choose from. They have 50 different flavors, including energy drink and water enhancer. They also have diet flavors.

The Soda Stream works like this. You have a CO2 carburetor that the kit comes with. You install it by screwing it into the Soda Stream. You fill one of the included soda bottles with water (I prefer purified water), you chill the water until its cold. You then screw the bottle into the soda machine per the directions. You push the button on top of the machine until you here 3 beeps. You release the bottle and you will hear a pressure release. Then you add your flavoring in SLOWLY or it will explode all over you. It’s so easy to do!

The cola products don’t taste like name brand soda but they are better than store brand. I’d say they are a mix of in-between. My favorite so far is dr pete, diet pink grapefruit, root beer, orange, and diet root beer. My son likes orange the best but my daughter likes dr pete. My husband  says as long as it don’t taste like diet he’s game, and he liked all of the flavors sent to us. He’s the pickiest person I’ve ever met and can tell right away if something is “diet”. I was  surprised that he liked the diet flavors but he said they didn’t taste like diet at all. The great thing about the soda flavors is that they do not contain any high fructose corn syrup or aspartame. The diet flavors contain Stevia, a natural sweetener. Some of the slim line flavors also contain cane sugar.

The box explains that all components are made from recyclables. The company appears to be a green focused company and does its part to help the environment. I particularly like that they are eliminating millions of plastic bottles every year just by being active in recruiting new customers. I prefer dealing with companies that are pro environment and do their part to clean up waste.
