Review Sheinside Fashion

My daughter recently picked out these really cute items from sheinside.com to review and we could not be more pleased with the quality and style of the items. I think I was kind of regretting that I let her choose items to have instead of something for myself.

She picked out a Black Sleeveless Leopard Romper and a Leopard Patchwork Blouse.

The quality of both items is very good; all seams were intact and the construction was solid. The fabric for the blouse is cotton and chiffon. The colors for the blouse contrast nicely and the blouse has a unique tail design that I have not seen anywhere else. My daughter stated that the blouse is versatile so it is easy to pair with pants, leggings and skirts. She was not in love with the tail at first but I think the design feature has grown on her because I saw her wearing it with the tail un-tucked for the first time.  The sizing of the item is accurate and fit her very well.

The romper is my favorite item and the reason I regret letting her get the credit. It is such a cute outfit and I think she looks adorable in it. The leopard romper has a solid black top portion with a nice back zipper feature that is visible if your hair is up. The waist is gathered with an elastic gathered waistband and attached to the shirt portion. The fabric is not listed but it feels like it has spandex in the material, it could possibly be a knit as it does have a little one way stretch to it. This item is a little big for her but it is also a one size fits all and she is a petite teenager, so I think it is to be expected. The romper also came with a little necklace with a bead attached to it.

Both pieces are versatile and can be worn in casual or night life. The blouse would look cute with anything, it is a really nice piece to have in your closet and I love the fabric!

I was asked to be in shienside’s fashion review program. Each month I receive between $40 and $200 in items to review on my blog(s).

I’m not Weird I Have SPD – Review

I’m Not Weird I Have SPD by Chyna Lairdis an educational book about Sensory Processing Disorder, a rare condition in which the sensory systems are heightened to the extreme. By reading this book you will learn through the eyes of a young child suffering from SPD. This book is great for educators in the special education classroom or other programs working with children with sensory disorders. In my opinion, this book is a must read for anyone working with a child who could or has been diagnosed with any sensory issues or illnesses, including developmental delays in the spectrum disorder bracket.

This is a book that should be in every special education classroom. I say that because even if a child has not been diagnosed with SPD often other developmental diagnoses have some of the characteristics. For example, I once worked with a child who was diagnosed with low functioning Autism. This particular child suffered from sensory dysfunction symptoms such as sound, touch and even smell.

I’m not Weird I Have SPD by Chyna Laird would also be an excellent book for a parent who has a child diagnosed with SPD because the book explains how the illness  effects a person through the eyes of  a child who has the condition.

copy-kids - eat your vegetables

Emily’s Frugal Tips has joined with Koupon Krazed to offer one reader a chance at trying a Copy-Kids DVD and a $25 Whole Foods Gift Card to stock up on some healthy fruits and veggies for the kiddos to try!

Haven’t heard of Copy-Kids yet? They have an awesome DVD just for kids called Copy-Kids Eat Your Fruits and Vegetables. It has an amazing concept of getting kids to eat their vegetables. Naturally, kids want to copy other kids and by watching the kids eating their fruits and vegetables, liking them, and having fun – it makes them want to try them. It is really an awesome thing to watch in action!

If you’re like me you are probably sick and tired of chopping fruits and vegetable to undetectable size  just so you can sneak them into your kids dinner. Well, hopefully with this video you won’t have to do that anymore.

Here’s a short clip if you would like to take a peek:

Clothing Exchange 8/19 – Vancouver, WA

This came across my desk today and I’d like to pass it on to my Vancouver, WA residents.  Clothing Exchange for back to school happening on 8/19 at Smokies Pizza in Vancouver, WA.  It will be from 2-4 pm.  FYI, I will likely be there!

Hi Emily,

I am just an individual with 6 kids at home so I know how hard it is in this economy. In the past I have tried to do a few clothing exchanges a year for both kids clothes and for plus size but the last 2 years has been very difficult for us. Sometimes they are at the place we are going to be at next Sunday, sometimes we try to do a potluck thing. This exchange will be at the Smokies Pizza at 10411 NE 4th Plain Blvd in Vancouver, but there is NO requirement to purchase food, but people are more than welcome to if they wish.

Basically people will bring good, clean, decent, school-worthy clothes that they don’t need or don’t use and exchange them for some they can use. I don’t have a 1 for 1 rule and we donate what is left behind to the women’s shelter for kids that don’t have anything. We also let people drop stuff by that don’t need anything which helps a lot if people need more than was brought in by participants. We also exchange things like belts, shoes, purses, accessories, backpacks, etc. This year I am also collecting school supplies to help families that can’t afford any, so anything helps there.

Later in the year I would like to do a school dances dress exchange, too.

Anyway, that’s basically what it’s all about.

Thanks much,
Cherrine

Have You Heard of Textbook Rentals?

This post is for all the college students. I can’t express enough how happy I am since graduating from college. Not because I didn’t like school but book prices were killer. I still don’t understand why a book we’re supposed to learn from for only one semester has to cost so much money. Unfortunately I didn’t know that I could rent textbooks until now but thankfully I’m going to share this little secret with you.

Let’s start out with this cheesy  video,

With CampusBookRentals , renting will save you up to 90%! The books are shipped to you completely free and you receive a shipping voucher to ship back free so there is never a shipping charge. You CAN highlight in textbooks! The best part, I think, is that for each textbook rented they donate to $$$ Operation Smile.
